Reliable utilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A skilled workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A government that plans decades ahead instead of election cycles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s the vision that inspires me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not to turn Corpus Christi into Singapore\u2014but to adopt the same mindset that transformed a small coastal city into one of the world’s most successful economies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Greatest Asset<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Corpus Christi sits at the crossroads of North American commerce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have a thriving port that connects Texas to the world. We have abundant energy resources, a growing manufacturing base, a strategic military presence, and access to global markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Few American cities possess this combination of assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The question isn’t whether we have potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The question is whether we have the discipline to realize it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Think Fifty Years Ahead<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Great cities don’t happen by accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They are built through consistent leadership, long-term planning, and investments that outlast any one administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Too often, local government is consumed by today’s crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I believe we should also be asking:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What kind of city do we want our grandchildren to inherit?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every major decision\u2014from water infrastructure to transportation to economic development\u2014should move us closer to that vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Excellence in the Basics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The world’s most successful cities understand a simple truth:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Infrastructure is economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reliable water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well-maintained roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Efficient permitting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Modern utilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Safe neighborhoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These aren’t separate priorities\u2014they’re the foundation that attracts employers, creates jobs, and improves quality of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When government gets the basics right, businesses invest with confidence and families choose to stay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compete Globally<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Corpus Christi shouldn’t measure itself only against neighboring cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We should compete with the best port cities in North America and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That means embracing innovation, investing in workforce development, strengthening partnerships with education and industry, and ensuring our infrastructure is ready for the next generation of opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We already have the geography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We already have the industries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We already have the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now we need the vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proudly Corpus Christi<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our goal isn’t to copy another city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s to become the best version of ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To build a city that is fiscally responsible, economically competitive, environmentally responsible, and prepared for generations of growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A city that young people choose to build their careers in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A city where businesses know they can invest with confidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A city where families know their children will have opportunities even greater than their own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s what I mean by “A Singapore on the Nueces.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not a copy of someone else’s success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
